Every Other Design Is Already Accounted For
We live in a world that is quick to assign labels.
Too loud.
Too quiet.
Too different.
Too ambitious.
Too emotional.
Too much.
Not enough.
Before long, if we're not careful, we begin carrying labels that were never ours to wear.
I've always had a saying:
Labels are for objects, not people.
People are wonderfully and uniquely created by God with purpose, gifts, and talents that cannot be duplicated. Long before anyone formed an opinion about you, your Creator had already formed a purpose for you.
Jesus reminds us that even the hairs on our heads are numbered. If God pays attention to details that small, imagine the intentionality with which He created you.
I remember when my oldest daughter came home from kindergarten and told me her teacher said she needed to learn to write with her right hand because she was left-handed.
I respectfully disagreed.
There was nothing wrong with the way God designed her.
Years later, she shared that she often felt she could never meet what she believed were my standards. I reminded her that as a child someone had labeled her a "slow learner."
I never accepted that label.
Instead, we chose to nurture her strengths and remind her that learning differently never meant learning less.
Today I pray the same over my children, my grandchildren, and every person I have the privilege to mentor.
Don't spend your life trying to become someone else's version of success.
Become the person God uniquely designed you to be.
Because...
Be your authentic self. Every other design is already accounted for.
Reflect and Correct: What label have you carried that God never gave you? What would change if today you laid that label down and picked up your God-given identity instead?
Scripture
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
